RENOVATED AS THE DISTILLERY
Buildings

Buildings transformed
from a sake brewery into a distillery

The landscape of the inherited sake brewery has been transformed into the Mori no Kyoto Distillery.
In addition to the 100-year brewery and the main building,
we would also like to introduce the distillery building where you can see the distillation equipment up close,
the ZEN garden with its dry landscape garden, and our own botanical farm,
which is a must-see attraction for all visitors.

100-year brewery

Sake brewing has been supported by this brewery for over 100 years. The building was reinforced with cypress lattice bearing walls for earthquake resistance. The shape of the brewery has remained unchanged, and the scenes of brewing process from those days can be visualized. The K-1860 bacteria was discovered in a sake barrel in front of the Shinto altar on the second floor.

Main building (store)

Exhibits showcasing the distillery's history, a lab for blending research, a sales area where visitors can sample products made at the distillery, a bar, and seminar rooms are also available inside the main building. We will provide you with an excellent relaxation experience while you appreciate the history that has been passed down from generation to generation.

Distillery building

We will give you a detailed guide on how our gin is produced, with an up-close look at Arnold Holstein's meticulous distillation equipment. We have maximized the level of hygiene control within the facility, and you can enjoy a realistic view through the large windows on the tour route. Special tour programs are also available.

ZEN garden

We created a dry landscape Japanese garden by newly assembling preserved landscaping stones.
<31 stones including Shumisen stones (9 stones), Sanzotaki stones (7 stones), Hojo stones (3 stone/5 stones), and Riku stones (7 stones)>
When you look at the ZEN garden from the counter of the tasting bar, you will experience the spirit of Japanese relaxation and a unique sense of wellness.

Botanical farm

We operate our own farm with a strong focus on ingredients. The botanical farm is adjacent to the distillery, where we all joined in to plant and prepare the saplings. This is not an easy task to do in parallel with sake brewing, but we will strive to evolve our products on a daily basis.
